Yes we’re back, it’s been a while since posting to the blog. Cindy and I arrived in Munich on Tuesday. Hayden flies in Friday and Gavin is coming down from Berlin (University) on Saturday so we can do a week of family vacation together.
I was able to visit Gavin in Berlin at the end of February, but basically we have not seen him, nor Hayden in the last six months – crazy to think about that sometimes. Gavin has been spending every weekend at a new destination in/around Europe which has been very exciting. Hayden is hard at work learning about math I will never really be able to decipher.

We spent yesterday walking around Munich on the “free” walking tour – lasted about 2.5 hours – we then walked the main park, and ended up at a “Beer Garden” drinking 1L of beer between us – too much for me, and one very large pretzel.
For the most part getting around has been simple – the benefit of google maps is amazingly simple – but the streets are easy to understand and get around. Of course we’ve had about 27 meals in the last 24 hours of being here – all very good – Cindy’s not too interested in having the “xxxworst” plate of sausages – but I’m sure we’ll try one.

Our hotel (Sofitel) in Munich has been very nice and they have a spa/pool that’s also included. So we’ve spent time in the pool and the sauna every day – nice way to end the day. Fun fact, people here are super comfortable with coming into the sauna with out any clothing – quite a surprise for me when this “dude” walks in fully naked and then sits down cross legged on the shelf up from me… Brought me right back to Africa and to not look at the gorilla instinctively.
Other things – lots of bikes here, and people sure do like their dogs. Food has been very good and the desert section appeals to Cindys sweeter half… There’s a shrine to Michael Jackson outside of the hotel where he stayed here.

Off to Dachau today, that should be interesting. Have a great day!
