Well Gavin is now officially 21 years old today, strange thing is exactly 10 years ago we were at Machu Pichu celebrating his birthday. Today, Munich and a tour of the Olympic facilities, BMW museum, walking through a very long festival, and ending with a very nice dinner in the English Garden.

The fun started when Gavin showed up from Berlin this morning – we were quietly waiting in anticipation so Cindy could effectively go full snuggle mode on him. It has been five months since she’s seen him, so understandable. We were able to procure a taxi and made it to the Olympic village where the Israeli athletes were taken hostage in 1972. It was a great facility and the stadium will hold 65k people, so very cool.

We then proceeded to check out the BMW facility, which had a mix of old and new vehicles to check out. Cindy was especially fond of the motorcycles and we uncovered that I’m not a very good backseat driver.

At our festival it was mostly food, although we found a shop that makes wool jackets/vests/etc. and Cindy desperately in need of clothes found something that fit (phew) – so we made a tariff free contribution to the German economy.

Last part of the day was celebrating Gavin’s birthday with a nice dinner and a beer. Everyone is sort of wiped out between jet lag, train riding, school ending, etc. etc.c etc. Tomorrow we head to Salzburg via train and are taking a 2 hour walking tour – note to self – weather checking ahead of booking is smart – note to self – 2 hour walking tour in the rain might be not so fun ;).

Other things on the list, the “Eagles Nest”, “Sound of Music” and “Mozart”. Our hotel- Sofitel in Munich has been great.

That’s about it for the day: Happy Birthday to Gavin!
