Quick Trip to Chicago

Well it’s been a fast couple of weeks and back at work, having to fly to Chicago (2 hours) for a tradeshow on Airline Loyalty programs. I was able to also bring Cindy along and we visited friends and hung out for a couple of days. The weather was really amazing, shorts even on Friday, Saturday a.m. was pouring rain, so we got really lucky with nice weather. We ended up taking the boat architectural tour of the city which was really neat to get the inside scoop. I think our guide had done it about a zillion times.

I realized when flying in that I hadn’t been to Chicago in years (10+). It used to be that you’d fly through Chicago to get to anywhere on United, but now Denver is big enough that direct flights are everywhere. The airport hasn’t really changed though – I quickly realized as walking through the tunnel with colored lights on the ceiling (20+ years for sure) and the Starbucks on the B concourse corner before walking to C. When I regularly used to fly through Chicago that Starbucks became my go-to spot when catching my tight connection, fun to be reminded that I no longer need to travel every week and cross country.

Let’s see, not much else really to say on this post – we had fun in Chicago, Cindy got to see all kinds of friends from all elements of her past so that was fun for her. Just added some pictures from the buildings – we were staying on the magnificent mile so pretty easy to be a tourist there. I didn’t see any scary people needing the military to stand on the street – in fact I did see a lot of police presence. But come to find out there was a ‘smash and grab’ robbery Thursday a.m. (4 am) at a Louis Viton store, so maybe it’s a thing. For years I’ve heard about the gun violence in Chicago, so if you were going to do something I’d focus on that vs expensive bags…

Next trip for me: Lisbon and Morocco. For Cindy: Nairobi and Zanzibar – let’s hope she takes some pictures. I really tried to see if I could make my schedule work from Morocco to Nairobi, but it’s just not gonna work and I need to pay attention to my day job…

Back to work.
