Yo Tokyo, I’m here for 96 Hours

Yup, Leave Sunday, pretty much lose Monday due to 16 hour time zone change and now I’m in Tokyo and it’s Tuesday (end of the day). I’ve worked out my jetlag stuff pretty well – funny thing is that with it being 16 hours difference you go backwards in the jetlag time adjustment period. Yesterday my watch said -16 hours, this morning it was -7 and now it’s -5.5 vs local time. So even though it’s 5:30 PM, to me it feels like 11:00 pm, so I’m getting adjusted quickly.

This is a super quick trip due to work, with several meetings, but also John (who lives in Hawaii, but is Japanese and speaks the lingo) met me here – so nice to have a guide on the way. We’ve spent today working, but also did a little touristy stuff – and the weather has been really nice – it’s cold but not freezing – in the sun it was nice today.

The food is excellent, tonight is sushi, and we have had a couple unique snacks that are super tasty – and not that expensive. There are a lot of young people here and people stay late – the coffee shops are packed with people on laptops working. There’s a Starbucks on every corner – packed – plus all kinds of other brands. Shake Shack is here as well – as it was in Singapore and every other place I’ve been this year (Casablanca, Berlin, Lisbon, etc. etc.)

Other that that – pretty much a post for photo delivery. I leave Friday at 5:30 pm and get to Denver at noon, will regroup and go to Leadville on Saturday for the festivities to begin. Currently in place 3 of 5 available slots to upgrade to United Polaris class – which is great on a 12 hour flight. I also just made Platinum status on United – hard to believe that even going around the world once I didn’t get 1k this year, but basically didn’t do as much domestic flying as I have other years.

Cindy and I are talking about an Africa trip in Feb/March so we’ll see if that’s the next blog post on this site…
