Well I now find myself in India for the second time in about 6 months – we now have a team of great people that work for us in Delhi so am here to meet with them. However, does mean I could spend the weekend with our CTO getting time zone adjusted. We left on Wednesday and Tuesday I found myself saying “Don’t get on the plane if they drop the bomb…” which unfortunately not a joke given that we flew pretty close to Iran. I don’t get this entire thing, sure hope smart people are somewhere in the rooms.
Ok, back to Delhi – I’m staying at the Imperial Hotel in Delhi. It’s a 5 star hotel and very nice – note that this doesn’t necessarily mean it’s expensive – I think I paid more for my hotel in Ft. Lauderdale two weeks ago. The one thing about traveling outside of the US is simply that labor is not as expensive and seems like there are people everywhere – opening doors, picking up things, raking the grass, shooing birds away, etc. Between all the places I’ve been in the last twelve months – you can definitely feel where there was a British influence in the culture. My morning Tea is always English Breakfast and it is very good. The hotel is amazing, the food is pretty good. We walked to a great restaurant the other night (Kwality) and the food was amazing – unfortunately I had a late lunch and wasn’t feeling 100% so had a small meal, but now that will be corrected this evening.

Yesterday we took the 3.5 hour (1 way) drive to see the Taj Mahal. Have never experienced this before, and it is a truly amazing site to visit. The drive isn’t great- not much to see, but when you get there it’s pretty amazing to think that 20,000 people built this tomb for his third wife. Lots and lots of posts about the history and why – but it’s truly amazing – once you see the work up close with all the inlaid stone work, etc. all done by hand as well – then it really is crazy.

Today (Sunday) getting some work done and have dinner with a couple of folks – followed by meetings Mon -> Wed and fly back to the states on Wednesday. Woke up reading about our unsuccessful negotiations with Iran and unclear what our next steps will be there. I simply don’t understand the why behind this entire thing – the history books in 10 years (or streaming shows) will be interesting to watch. I feel the US losing it’s place in the world as the shining city on the hill.

And if you wanted to know the route to get here… Newark to Delhi direct – did it in 13 hours, going back 16… and if you look off the right side of the plane… yikes – it’s a long way away… like an hour+ if the plane turned…
