Old Delhi – a good experience

Well had the opportunity to go hang out in old Delhi on Sunday – definitely a good experience – closer to the poverty and reality of living in India. Yesterday, today and tomorrow we are in meetings and they have been good ones. Our partner here for legal items is a firm started by the partner’s mother 40 years ago – she is now the equivalent of the Attorney General here – pretty amazing firm – over 70% women as well – and if you know anything about how male dominated India is, then it’s a pretty amazing feat. The cover image for this post is guys who are making this crazy watermelon drink – to loud playing music as well. Very ‘disco’ and entertaining…

We ended up meeting a subset of our team at a place called Karim’s in Old Delhi. Food was good, honestly I was a bit intimidated by the spice mixture – so in an “intestinal wellness” moment elected to eat more vegetables than meat offerings. We ended up at another restaurant for the ‘veg’ guys that were with us – as they did not trust Karim’s to have truly vegetable only options – I mean what’s a little meat here and there thrown in…

The poverty is real – lots of people on the street, sleeping, working, in one case bathing. While the offices we work in are nice, the reality is that there are lots of people not working in tech, and as such live day to day for food here.

That’s about it – it’s a work day. Having a driver taking you around is critical – the navigation, and ‘rules of the road’ really don’t make sense – but the traffic is definitely better than Bangalore..
