Well we made it without issue – flight from Denver to Frankfurt went relatively quick. I guess it’s all perspective – this year and last year I did two legs that were 16 hours, so a 9 hour flight seems pretty fast – especially when you are able to sleep. We did have a 3 hour layover in Frankfurt, which actually was the right amount of time – other people on the plane saying “I have 60 minutes” – well they should realize international travel has customs, long lines and well 60 minutes is not enough time.

We actually watched one tour group get out of line and then talk their way to the front – another guy in line got a bit disturbed by this and there were a few words about travel planning by our fearless tourist and his all knowing about how to get through customs. In the end, we stood, watched the drama unfold and then proceeded with “next” accordingly. The sad thing is the folks behind us in line were in the ‘group’ – so they stepped out of line, and got in the group – we then proceeded through and when done looked back and the group was still in queue – note to self – stay in the line!

After our brief layover (sponsored by the Lufthansa Lounge) we fought our sleep tendencies and took a quick flight to Geneva (45 mins). Took another 30 minutes to get our bag, and then about 40 minutes in a taxi to go about 3 miles – but worked out. Our hotel “Hotel de La Cigogne” is great, they upgraded our room to a split level – so upstairs bedroom, downstairs living room – pretty nice.

Yesterday we fought through the jet lag until about 4, then couldn’t fight it anymore – found a pillow and did our thing for about 3 hours – then went and had dinner and a walk. Our hotel is right on the main block of where you want to be a tourist, so very accommodating across the board – there is even a Starbucks (who cares) next door. The one thing is that if you want say a $100,000 watch (or more) – this is your place to be. Rolex is about on every corner. I asked Cindy if she brought her “Swatch” that we purchased last year in Switzerland – uh no such luck – so we’re not in the official club. I cannot imagine spending $200 or $300k on a watch.

We did walk around last night – the fountain is pretty cool so took some pictures of that. We ended up having mushroom fondue at a local place last night – so basically bread and a bunch of cheese for dinner. I did order a side salad so we’ve got some vitamins.

Today and the next three days forecast are for high pressure with pretty nice conditions – say 85F high in the lower valleys and then say 65F at the passes – so no need for long underwear and all the other stuff we had to bring. Today we’ll play tourist around Geneva – there’s a walking tour at 5 pm – somehow I’ll find a cappuccino and that will be good – I think there’s one about every 50 yards or so here. Looks like shorts weather today for sure – so we’ll go play tourist and see what Geneva has to offer.

Our new animal sitter (Ryan) is happily watching Knowshon and Nugget and all seems well – so that gives Cindy much relief. Knowshon has developed some new anxieties and well chewing furniture isn’t back yet, but some nice anti-anxiety drugs are…

That’s about it – just had to wake Cindy up – my timezone clock adjusts a lot faster I guess but we’ll get her there by Saturday a.m. when hiking begins!
