Made it to Drymen, Scotland

Well well, we did it, after an interesting day of breakfast, 2 cappuccinos and a Nutella treat, we were able to have our car pick us up successfully at the hotel and then venture the 1.5 hours to Drymen. Our driver says “never been to Drymen…” and he’s an older gentleman… I’m thinking yikes I’m sleeping with a sheep tonight, but no, it’s very nice here – a great room at an inn, and our dinner place was literally right across the street.

This is the hike we are doing.

For our fans – yes the thousands (millions?) of you that follow our blog, we just wanted to say thanks – we know that daily impressions must be getting rounded down to 20 from 20,000 or 17 from 17,000 and we appreciate all the comments and questions about our trip 🙂 (1 comment so far). In the world of Instagram, FB, blah blah – formerly known as blah, and all the rest of it – being a bit more on the edge of the internet universe is really nice. I do enjoy writing this blog, largely it brings back memories of past trips in doing so and makes to think back to all the places you’ve been and things you’ve seen. I was telling Cindy yesterday that traveling here is super easy – you don’t have to do translation, nor ask your son for translation, or watch your wife do hand puppet shows to explain a situation, etc. So definitely easier to communicate, read signs like “Look LEFT, or Look RIGHT” painted on the street at cross walks for everyone who doesn’t live here…

Ok back to Drymen I guess – nice town, small. Dinner was good. We went on a quick hike this afternoon and found a great vantage spot to see Loch Lomond from a far distance. The quantity of sheep here is a bit overwhelming – and I was worried if we would see any – I think they use every other field for sheep here.

Not sure what this is, but not us…. at least today!

I took the fun of looking into the future of the weather – and well it will be nice tomorrow about 60F – no rain. Tuesday and Wednesday though – Tuesday rain all day – a high of 50F, Wednesday no rain until the afternoon, high of 50F again. We’ll see if we’re prepared enough – I think we are since we’re hiking. Tomorrow is about 10 miles, with very little vertical so should be ok. I’m sure I’ll find a way to do pigeon yoga move to stretch out before and after we hike.

Let’s see, what else – not much. Our neighbors sent us a strange video of someone coming to their back door at 11 pm last night – didn’t look scary, just a bit confused I guess. We’ve never had anything like that happen where we live, so the fact that it did is crazy. The house they picked is ex-marine corp, 80 years old (great neighbor), but definitely the house I wouldn’t pick to knock on the back door at night on our street.

We are currently at 56.0655° N, 4.4500° W – and yes I brought a portable GPS, downloaded our maps onto my phone and can get 12 satellites from anywhere – just really don’t like that “we’re lost feeling”.
