Well we completed the last day (two days ago) – ended up being a great hike with a simple up/down hill (1000 feet) but mid-hike there’s a very small town with a chocolate shop – oh wasn’t someone surprised and excited to see that! We were out the door by 9 a.m., hiked the first five miles pretty fast and were able to have a nice break before finishing the last five miles into Pitlochry. […]

Ardtalnaig to Aberfoyle – 11 Miles/1200 Vertical Feet and my feet are super tired… Getting to the end of the road (70 miles down)

The trek has officially covered 70 miles, with one day left for about ten miles. Today was enjoyable, despite challenging steps at the end. Encounters with wildlife were limited, and weather conditions improved. After shopping for underwear, a satisfying dinner was enjoyed. The trip has so far avoided significant rain.

Killin to Ardtalnaig – 13 miles/2000 vertical feet – beautiful with lots of animals. And a Monty Python Surprise (took this photo with my iphone, vibrant mode – almost looks like a painting)

Well today was a really good one – the walk for the first couple of miles was again on asphalt (yuck) and uphill, but then once you get off of that it was a great trail/road then a formal trail with mushy / muddy spots and everything you could want in a trail. We did about 2000 vertical feet today – climbing across the nearby mountain to then descend into another loch. But once away […]

Well the hike today turned into a little more than we were thinking – we took a detour to see Rob Roy’s grave (see pics) – who was a notorious outlaw in this region, so fitting for us to go visit, especially wince we are hiking the “Rob Roy Trail”. Today started with a little misty/rain – and that was fine but then add a little wind and it was pretty cold. Of course you […]

Today started out great! – Woke up and looked out the window, expecting slight drizzle and surprise – I could see blue sky through the lifting fog. We stayed at a very nice B&B in Callander – owned by a nice younger couple – so things were a bit more modern than the night before. Excellent breakfast and we were off around 10, electing to leave a bit later today since the distance wasn’t so […]

The author reflects on a restless night and a humorous moment during a walking tour about witch trials, where they joked about witches being identified by weighing them against a duck. The narrative covers their quest for fun, connecting it to past adventures, and mentions a long hike they completed, concluding with a light-hearted tone.

Last Day in Edinburgh, the world is small…

Well today is a transit day, having spent yesterday doing a bit of laundry and walking around the University. This is where the world gets smaller. How small? Here it is… So we are sitting at dinner the other night, casually chatting about all things pet (typical conversation goes “what do you think Knowshon is doing…”). Sitting next to us are two Americans also chatting about all sorts of things. In the most casual of […]
