Well I wanted to get some photos off the Nikon camera to share as well and figured a quick post might help. We went for a walk to the beach last night as it was one of the best evenings we have had (no cloud cover and warmer). Now that we are here on a Tuesday things are much quieter than on the weekend. Gavin is highly interested in the ships at sea – Hayden was more interested in using the camera and some of these photos are his. Got my chicken out this a.m. for fajitas and prepped it for marinade. In the store you literally goto the meat counter and ask for a chicken – they have whole chickens and just the breasts or the thigh/leg connnected together. When you get home you get to cut up the chicken and prep it. Food seems to take much longer to prepare and cook – but it is all made from scratch and I like to cook so there you go… The pictures of the food are from our first night of BBQing pork. Hayden made the pico sauce – tomatoes, red-onion, cucumber, fresh lemon, cilantro, olive-oil and sea-salt – it was very tasty on top of our grilled pork. There is a brown building here – it’s part of the university research branch – pretty interesting. Here are some photos of what’s been happening… and we are going to make some lunch, goto the store and maybe the beach…

I think you need to befriend the boxer girl. She would be a good companion. Maybe you could bring her home for the other two. You know what they say, “three are better than two”.
Love the pictures. I can get a real sense of the goings on and the surrounding beautiful area. I am so happy you are doing well and creating a good routine for everyone.

Just read through all your adventures! It sounds like you’re having a wonderful time and getting to know the people and the country so well. I’m sure you will all come home speaking Spanish fluently– especially the boys as they make friends along the way. I have to say I laughed reading your description of the roads– just saw the BBC’s Top Gear episodes of their trip to Patagonia and the “roads” they traveled on. I’m hoping you have a much smoother road experience! Chile seems like such a lovely country, though, and your photos and stories really make it come alive. Can’t wait to hear more!
Exercise class was hard to get back into after having taken the holidays off– sore muscles once again. Everyone was asking after you and Jen gave the update. Lots of wishes for fun and adventure headed your way!
Oh– wanted to ask– how’s viewing the nighttime “southern” sky? Any luck recognizing the new constellations? Take care and enjoy yourselves!

so far it’s been cloudy at night – so we haven’t had much chance to view stars… Being right on the coast there is a lot of ‘marine cover’ that comes in/out. In Vina Del Mar we did get to see some stars – but not like one would hope.

That’s the water heater – instant hot water for the house. It’s run off of gas. the houses here have a propane tank outside – the gas truck comes driving by on Monday – if you need a refill you just put your tank on the street and get an exchange for a fee… It’s a bit bigger than a propane tank for your BBQ – about twice the size.
